KR8260 ANTIQUE LATE-1800s KURDISH KILIM TEXTILE 2'3" X 10'2"
LATE-1800s STORAGE BAG KILIM FROM TURKISH KURDISTAN
This kilim is a ninteenth-century kilim from Turkish Kurdistan. Kilim weaving is a centuries-old technique that makes for flatweave, no-pile pieces that are both aesthetically appealing and functional. Traditionally handmade in countries of the former Persian Empire, kilims are the basis of many different styles born from the region. This piece in particular is a gorgeous and bold tribal-style runner that adheres to traditional styles with its geometric design, hand-spun wool and hand-woven nature. While this piece was originally woven to function as a storage bag, it has since been dismantled and reassembed so that it can act as a small rug or decorative wall hanging today.
Because of the size of our inventory, we are unable to keep rugs open and on display in store. Please note that slight shadows or differences in color may be shown in photographs due to how rugs are folded for storage. Any creases will surely fall out once the rug has been brushed and left open for a bit of time. We apologize for any inconsistency in appearance online.
As this is an antique, hand-woven rug, there may be some signs of age and use. Though we believe this wear only contributes to the character and uniqueness of each piece, the Nomadic Trading team will work to repair items when necessary. For more information regarding purchase of this rug and similar pieces, please reach out at sales.nomadic@gmail.com.
