These breadboards are handcrafted, vintage pieces from Turkey. Used throughout the early and mid-twentieth century primarily for making and rolling out dough, each piece was clearly a well-loved necessity in the kitchen. Nomadic Trading is lucky to have these boards often still coated in the flour that was used on them, as it reveals a deeply ingrained spirit of homemaking that brings a unique aesthetic value to each piece today.

As these breadboards were once-functional goods, each has varying degrees of flour coating and softening that comes with decades of use. Additionally, their vintage nature entails a level of natural deterioration and wear that often resulted in cracking, splitting or splintering—many pieces have been visibly repaired with hammered copper, tin and wooden splints so that they could still be used in the home; while we believe these cosmetic additions and signs of natural aging contribute to the uniqueness and character of each board, the Nomadic Trading team will work to provide the best options available according to your desired look.

Please note that the breadboards shown in this listing are intended as a display of the selection we have in store for this particular size. Small breadboards are roughly 10”-18” in height, 8”-15” across, ¼”- ½” in thickness and around 2 pounds in weight. These sizing guidelines are loose, as each board is classified by any combination of each of these factors.
