SH1519 VINTAGE 1990s PAKISTANI PESHAWAR RUG 4'10

SH1519 VINTAGE 1990s PAKISTANI PESHAWAR RUG 4'10" X 6'4"

1990s RUG FROM PESHAWAR, PAKISTAN MADE BY AFGHAN REFUGEES

This rug is a vintage piece made in Peshawar, Pakistan. The rug is especially significant because it was made in Afghan refugee workshops. Refugees came to Pakistan in search of stability and safety during the Soviet-Afghan War, where they spent time in workshops learning trades for self-employment such as textile weaving, mechanics, construction and metalworking. Not only is this rug a beautifully crafted piece with its handspun wool and natural root dyes, but it is a culturally significant piece of geo-political history.

Because of the size of our inventory, we are unable to keep rugs open and on display in store. Please note that slight shadows or differences in color may be shown in photographs due to how rugs are folded for storage. Any creases will surely fall out once the rug has been brushed and left open for a bit of time. We apologize for any inconsistency in appearance online.

As this is a vintage, hand-woven rug, there may be some signs of age and use. Though we believe this wear only contributes to the character and uniqueness of each piece, the Nomadic Trading team will work to repair items when necessary. For more information regarding purchase of this rug and similar pieces, please reach out at sales.nomadic@gmail.com.
