1980s RUG FROM KARAPINAR, TURKEY WITH ANTIQUE WASH
This rug from the 1960s is a vintage piece from Karapinar, Turkey, a small city within central Turkey that is recognized for its hand-made rug production. Karapinar rugs are known for their intricate geometric and floral motifs, medallions, rich colors derived from natural dyes and use of wool sourced local to the area. By removing the more vibrant dyes and cutting the pile of the rug down, this piece has been given a worn, more antique look. The piece is a great example of repurposing a once brightly colored, traditional rug into a more subtle modern piece with a limited color palette. This rug is both visually appealing and rich in cultural significance, making for a piece that is simply beautiful.
Because of the size of our inventory, we are unable to keep rugs open and on display in store. Please note that slight shadows or differences in color may be shown in photographs due to how rugs are folded for storage. Any creases will surely fall out once the rug has been brushed and left open for a bit of time. We apologize for any inconsistency in appearance online.
As this is a vintage, hand-woven rug, there may be some signs of age and use. Though we believe this wear only contributes to the character and uniqueness of each piece, the Nomadic Trading team will work to repair items when necessary.
