1970s ZILI KILIM FROM KONYA, TURKEY WITH ANTIQUE WASH
This rug is a vintage, 1970s kilim piece from Konya, Turkey. Kilim weaving is a centuries-old technique that makes for flatweave, no-pile pieces that are both aesthetically appealing and functional. Traditionally produced in countries of the former Persian Empire, kilims are the basis of many different styles born from the region. Zili describes the style of this kilim weave, in which the design is woven across the warps continuously, in parallel lines. Though this is a piece of traditional craftsmanship, it has been given an updated look with its antique wash. By washing the piece and removing some of the pigments, the rug has a more neutral color palette. As a result, this rug is both visually appealing and rich in cultural significance, making for a bespoke piece that is simply beautiful and unique.
Because of the size of our inventory, we are unable to keep rugs open and on display in store. Please note that slight shadows or differences in color may be shown in photographs due to how rugs are folded for storage. Any creases will surely fall out once the rug has been brushed and left open for a bit of time. We apologize for any inconsistency in appearance online.
As this is a vintage, hand-woven rug, there may be some signs of age and use. Though we believe this wear only contributes to the character and uniqueness of each piece, the Nomadic Trading team will work to repair items when necessary. For more information regarding purchase of this rug and similar pieces, please reach out at sales.nomadic@gmail.com.
