TK342 VINTAGE 1990s TURKISH BALIKESIR KILIM RUG 5'6" X 7'3"
1990s CICIM KILIM RUG FROM BALIKESIR, TURKEY
This rug is a vintage cicim kilim piece from Turkey. Kilim weaving is a centuries-old technique that makes for flatweave, no-pile pieces that are both aesthetically appealing and functional. Traditionally produced in countries of the former Persian Empire, kilims are the basis of many different styles born from the region. The cicim styling of this piece makes for a rug with designs that appear to be almost embroidered onto the weft. Made in the Balikesir region of Turkey, this piece adheres to the traditional style with its simple geometric design, vibrant earth tones, hand-spun wool and hand-woven nature. Made circa 1980, this piece has held steadfast in its condition and coloring.
Because of the size of our inventory, we are unable to keep rugs open and on display in store. Please note that slight shadows or differences in color may be shown in photographs due to how rugs are folded for storage. Any creases will surely fall out once the rug has been brushed and left open for a bit of time. We apologize for any inconsistency in appearance online.
As this is a vintage, hand-woven rug, there may be some signs of age and use. Though we believe this wear only contributes to the character and uniqueness of each piece, the Nomadic Trading team will work to repair items when necessary.
