1960s HERKI TRIBAL RUG FROM HAKKARI REGION, TURKEY
This runner is a vintage Kurdish Herki tribal runner from the Hakkari region of Southeastern Turkey. The craftsmanship of this piece is exquisite, as it is hand-knotted with handspun wool and dyed with natural root and floral pigments. This piece is rich in both aesthetic and cultural value, as these pieces come from a region wrought with political unrest and violence, thus making them widely unavailable to the rest of the world for many years.
Because of the size of our inventory, we are unable to keep rugs open and on display in store. Please note that slight shadows or differences in color may be shown in photographs due to how rugs are folded for storage. Any creases will surely fall out once the rug has been brushed and left open for a bit of time. We apologize for any inconsistency in appearance online.
As this is a vintage, hand-woven rug, there may be some signs of age and use. Though we believe this wear only contributes to the character and uniqueness of each piece, the Nomadic Trading team will work to repair items when necessary. For more information regarding purchase of this rug and similar pieces, please reach out at sales.nomadic@gmail.com.
