1950s OBRUK RUG FROM KONYA, TURKEY
This rug is a vintage kilim rug from the Obruk village of Konya, Turkey. Kilim weaving is a centuries-old technique that makes for flatweave, no-pile pieces that are both aesthetically appealing and functional. Traditionally produced in countries of the former Persian Empire, kilims are the basis of many different styles born from the region. This particular kilim is in the Obruk style, which is symmetrical in its design and features geometric, floral and prayer motifs. Made using hand-spun wool with natural dyes, this piece is absolutely gorgeous.
Because of the size of our inventory, we are unable to keep rugs open and on display in store. Please note that slight shadows or differences in color may be shown in photographs due to how rugs are folded for storage. Any creases will surely fall out once the rug has been brushed and left open for a bit of time. We apologize for any inconsistency in appearance online.
As this is a vintage, hand-woven rug, there may be some signs of age and use. Though we believe this wear only contributes to the character and uniqueness of each piece, the Nomadic Trading team will work to repair items when necessary. For more information regarding purchase of this rug and similar pieces, please reach out at sales.nomadic@gmail.com.
