PORTUGUESE OCTOPUS POTTERY WITH OYSTER SHELL GROWTH
These highly unique, vintage pottery pieces were originally used to harvest octopuses in Portugal. After being strung together in shallow waters to encourage the creatures to move in, oysters then began to thrive on the surface of and inside the pottery over time. These once functional pieces now make for very interesting additions to homes or gardens. While the display photographs are intended only as a representation of selection, we would be happy to provide similar examples if you are interested in a particular piece that's shown. Please note that the typical size of these pieces ranges from 10" to 12" inches in height, 7 pounds in weight and that they are variable in their degree of oyster growth.
